WhatsApp becomes first third-party messaging app……

WhatsApp for iOS gets a new feature which will let users easily connect with their friends and family via WhatsApp even while they are driving. The new update comes with WhatsApp v2.18.2 version and brings along a dedicated WhatsApp button on the CarPlay dash interface. The aim of bringing the WhatsApp the CarPlay integration is to improve the user’s in-vehicle connectivity system.

To get WhatsApp update on your CarPlay dash interface, you will first need to update the WhatsApp app to version v2.18.2 on your iPhone by heading over to the App store. CarPlay basically enables a car radio or head unit to be a display and also act as a controller for an iPhone. This will work on iPhones running on iOS 7.1 and higher versions. This means users with iPhone 5, iPhone 6, iPhone 6s, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and the latest iPhone 8, 8 Plus and iPhone X will be able to use CarPlay interface to send messages to friends and family via WhatsApp while driving.

The integration will allow users to get push notifications which will let them easily communicate with the WhatsApp contacts while they drive. This works pretty much like what we had seen with the Siri integration on vehicles which also let users get updates from WhatsApp app installed on their iPhones and iPads. But what differentiates CarPlay support from Siri is that it allows users to receive messages as and when they receive it on their phones.

The new CarPlay integration let users check all the received WhatsApp messages and also reads them out loud with Siri’s support. Not only that, users can also send WhatsApp messages to any of their contacts – all that’s need to be done is ask Siri to do so — by dictating the messages to her.

To get the integration users can head over to the App store to download the application on their Apple device – iPhone and iPad. The integration works pretty much like the iMessages. But unlike iMessage, CarPlay integration doesn’t allow users to browse through the already existing messages.
